Diagnosis

Distinguished from other congeners by having fewer scales on the lateral row (42-50, versus 50-79), 6-7 perforated scales along lateral line (versus 7-23), and 4-5 scales on a transverse row between normal course of the lateral line and the base of pelvic fin (Ref. 38952). Golden body and blue eye in life; lateral line incomplete; without barbel (Ref. 43281).
