Diagnosis

Diagnosed from all congeners by the combination of the following characters: lateral line complete with 34-36 + 1-2 pored scales; ½ 6/1/ 2½ scales in transverse line on body, ½4/1/1½ on caudal peduncle. Additional distinguishing characters include: body slender, depth 26.0-28.8% SL; pelvic fin length 27.9-31.9% SL, reaching base of branched anal rays 3-8; lower jaw densely tuberculated over dentary, tuberculation extending backwards beyond level of anterior orbit (Ref. 75997).

Description: Dorsal fin with 2 simple and 8½ or 9½ branched rays; anal fin with 3 simple and 17½ - 19½ branched rays; pectoral fin with one unbranched and 10 or 11 branched rays; pelvic fin with one unbranched and 5 branched rays (Ref. 75997).
