Etymology: Ivindomyrus: Because of Ivindo river in Gabon + Greek, myros, -ou = the male of the morey eel.
Eponymy: This is a toponym; it refers to the Ivindo River, Gabon, where the holotype of I. opdenboschi was collected. Armand Opdenbosch was a Belgian who was the Chief Technician (Taxidermist) of the MRAC, Tervuren (1929–1977). [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
