Etymology: Leucopsarion: Greek, leykos = white + Greek, psaros = grey, speckled (Ref. 45335). More on author: Hilgendorf.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Marine; freshwater; brackish; demersal; amphidromous (Ref. 46888); depth range 1 - m (Ref. ), usually - m (Ref. ). Subtropical; 0°C - ; 45°N - 30°N (Ref. 26213)

Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 5.8 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 121522); max. published weight: 0.60 g (Ref. 121522)
First dorsal fin is absent, pelvic fin reduced (Ref. 44253). Full number of second dorsal, anal and pectoral fin rays is attained about two months after fertilization. Body wall is translucent (Ref. 101247). Scales are absent (Ref. 101248).
Adults ascend rivers in the spawning season without feeding, and dies after spawning. Adults retain larval characteristics, a major factor contributing to its neotenic characteristics is the delayed development of the thyroid system (Ref. 101248). Caught for food.
Females spawn in nests under stones (Ref. 101248). The egg clusters are cared for by a male until hatching (Ref. 101248).
