Etymology: Speleogobius: Greek, speos = cave + Latin, gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335).

Ecology
Marine; demersal; depth range 8 - 25 m (Ref. 4696). Subtropical
Mediterranean Sea: known from the holotype collected in the Grotto of Banjole, near Rovinj, Croatia. No further published records, but now known also from Adriatic islands of Krk, Prvic, and Hvar.

Max length : 1.8 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 4696)
Occurs inshore; in a grotto (Ref. 4696, 51024). Prefers caves abd other dark habitats (Ref. 92840). Benthic (Ref. 51024).
