Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 14; Anal soft rays: 8. Distinguished from its congener by having 9-10 1/2 branched dorsal rays (vs. 12 1/2); anus situated under branched dorsal rays 2-3; distance from anus to anal fin origin greater than length of base of dorsal fin (Ref. 39226).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Found in a stream with slow current and with depth never more than 30 cm during the dry season. Also collected in turbid waters at a depth between 0 to 2 m on muddy bottom along sandy banks (Ref. 39226).
