Etymology: Acrochordonichthys: Greek, akros = summit, topmost + Greek, chorda = nervous line + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335); falcifer: Named for its smooth, recurved pectoral spine.

Asia: known only from the Kinatabangan and Segama river drainages, and possibly from the Kayan River drainage in northeastern Borneo, Malaysia.

Color pattern with many small blotches of various shades of brown, with many small, dark brown spots on the dorsal surface of the head. Dorsal-fin base 10.8-13.1% SL. Rounded posterior margin of adipose fin. Pectoral spine without serrations (Ref. 37794).
