Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); fuscus: From the Latin "fuscus" = dark brown, dark, referring to the dark melanin pattern in mature males (Ref. 55898).
