Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); longirostris: From the Latin "longus" = long and "rostrum" = snout, referring to its elongate snout (Ref. 55898).
