This species is distinguished from its congeners of northeast India in having the following characters: scale margins greyish black; branched dorsal-fin rays 6; lateral line scales 34-36; transverse scales 5.5/4.5; predorsal scales 16; chest scaled; belly scales poorly developed; dorsal-fin close to the base of caudal-fin than to the tip of snout; vent close to anal-fin origin than to the pelvic-fin origin; predorsal length 52.5-53.8% SL; snout length 45.2-47.0%HL; disc width 45.4-46.5%HL,disc length 27.4-28.0%HL; callous pad width 34.1-34.2%HL, callous pad length 18.0-21.5%HL; upper base of caudal-fin with a rounded like black patch or blotch (Ref. 121778).

Inhabits medium to fast flowing clear water hill streams, on gravelly substrate covered with in algae growth and cobble bottoms. Associated species collected at the type locality includes Neolissochilus hexagonolepis, Schizothorax chivae, Pethia sp. Opsarius sp., Physoschistura sp., Schistura sp., Glyptothorax chivomensis and some other species (Ref. 121778).
