Short description
Morphology | Morphometrics
Diagnosed from all congeners by the combination of the following characters: lateral line complete with 34-36 + 1-2 pored scales; ½ 6/1/ 2½ scales in transverse line on body, ½4/1/1½ on caudal peduncle. Additional distinguishing characters include: body slender, depth 26.0-28.8% SL; pelvic fin length 27.9-31.9% SL, reaching base of branched anal rays 3-8; lower jaw densely tuberculated over dentary, tuberculation extending backwards beyond level of anterior orbit (Ref. 75997).
Occurs in rivers and streams (Ref. 75997). The type locality, Kalu Ganga, has a gravel-pebble bed with fast-flowing water strewn with boulders (Ref. 75997). Sympatric with other cyprinids such as Puntius srilankensis, Puntius martenstyni and Labeo fisheri (Ref. 75997).
