Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 12; Anal soft rays: 8. This species can be easily distinguished by the following combination of characters: caudal fin with 8+8 branched rays; incomplete lateral line; a dissociated caudal bar, a shallow caudal-peduncle depth (7.6%?9.6% SL; respectively caudal-peduncle 1.76?1.95 times longer than deep); and no sexual dimorphism. A dorsocephalic pattern consisting of a black, forward directed V-shaped formation located between the nares, and a white, ovoid blotch on the upper operculum represents an autapomorphy (Ref. 94768).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occurs among rocks along the shallow shores in a water depth of 10-40 cm with moderate to fast current in Mengmenghe River. Syntopic with Schistura cryptofasciata , Glyptothorax laosensis and Clarias sp.. Found also in Nanzhaihe River, characterized by water flow velocity of 0.5 m/s, 21 °C water temperature, and a pH of 5.4 (Ref. 94768).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00692 (0.00311 - 0.01538), b=3.02 (2.85 - 3.19), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
