Ecology
Marine; bathypelagic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 40 - 800 m (Ref. 4479). Deep-water; 41°N - 40°S
Atlantic Ocean: about 41°N to about north of 26°N, and between 26°S and 30°S in western sector and to 33°S in eastern sector. Indian Ocean: between 25°S and 40°S. Pacific Ocean: 30°S to 40°S.

Oceanic and mesopelagic, found at 600-800 m during the day, mainly at 40-175 m during the night, but locally nyctoepipelagic at the surface (Ref. 4479).
