Etymology: Garra: Name based on a vernacular Indian name (Hamilton, 1822:343, Ref. 1813); a fish living in mud (Ref. 128817).

Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Like other species of Garra, it probably occurs in fast water over rocky or gravel substrates. Little is known about this species. Known only from juveniles of 5 cm length.
