The species was found in shallow stretches (up to about 20 cm) with moderate current, the substrate composed by sand, fine gravel, and larger rocks, where the specimens were observed burying themselves on sandy substrate using undulatory movements of the body. This species seems to form small shoals of less than 10 individuals and was often found in syntopy with an unidentified species of Characidium (Ref. 129024).
