This is similar to Hemibrycon boquiae in having the depressed pectoral-fin falling short of the pelvic-fins origin and in its morphometric and meristic values; the species also differs in the form of the pelvic bone (blunt and osseous in the Hemibrycon quindos, rounded and with cartilage in Hemibrycon boquiae), form of orbitosphenoid (short and wide in Hemibrycon quindos, slender and elongate in Hemibrycon boquiae), and the number of small teeth on the dentary (ten in Hemibrycon quindos, five in Hemibrycon boquiae) (Ref. 83529).Description: Dorsal fin ii-iii,7-8; anal fin iii-iv,22-26; pectoral fin i,10; pelvic fin i-ii,6-7 (Ref. 83529).
