الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع): 0; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع): 16-18; شوكة شرجية 0; أشعه شرجية لينه: 16 - 18. Back and sides blue, with small elongate black spots; fins with spots; dark gular band; belly silvery white (Ref. 4423).

Pelagic throughout its life history (Ref. 592, 48637). A schooling species. Feeds on larger zooplankton and fish larvae (Ref. 9680, 48637).
