Kurzbeschreibung Morphologie | Morphometrie

This species is distinguished from all congeners by the following characters: with a highly superior mouth, the lower jaw projecting upwards beyond the upper jaw (vs. terminal in calhamazon, orthos, patriciae, raptor, rex, schotti and sub-terminal in orinoco, sima); a strongly concave dorsal margin of the frontal (vs. straight in calhamazon, orthos, patriciae, raptor, rex, schotti and convex in orinoco, sima) (shared with Eastern Amazonian populations of S. orthos) (Ref. 126780).

Biologie     Fachlexikon (Englisch) (z.B. epibenthic)

Inhabit deep channels of white-water and black-water rivers (Ref. 13085); collected at low densities. Stomach content analysis indicates that it feeds entirely on the tails and scales of other electric fishes (Ref. 126780).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.7500   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (13 of 100).
