Short description
Morfologia | Morfometria
Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 7-10; Raggi anali molli: 7. Relatively small eyes, 16.7-26.7% of HL. Prefringe of rostral cap splitting into tiny fimbriations and with dense hornified papillae. Prefringe of lower lip densely covered with hornified papillae and reaching area between 1/3 and 1/2 of eye. Ventral of head and hornified prefinge of lower lip without black pigment. With rostral barbels, the length equal to or longer than eye diameter. Without maxillary barbels. Gill rakers short and tiny (Ref. 39634).
Inhabits underground rivers between November and March, feeding mainly on filamentous algae; between March and September, moves to the middle or lower layers of fast flowing currents or inter-montane streams for breeding (Ref. 39634).
