Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 93-96; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 75 - 79. Developed gill raker 10-11. Head and body fully covered with scales. Operculum with a sharp, strong spine. Preoperculum with 2 small spines at the lower angle (Ref. 43544).

Common species (Ref. 34024). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205). Found in markets (Ref. 34024).
