Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 9; Raggi anali molli: 27 - 31. Has 24-28 branched anal rays; a submarginal stripe only in the upper caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 27732).

Occurs at the surface in medium-sized rivers. Diet is probably similar to O. anomalura including chironomids and small mollusks. Rarely seen at fish markets.
