Etymology: Pimelodella: Diminutive latinized of greek, pimele = fat + Greek, odous, odella = little teeth (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Gordon B Howes was an American naturalist who collected fishes (and other taxa) during Carriker’s expeditions through South America. He collected the holotype of this species. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
