Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 12; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 7 - 9. Differs from other members of the genus by having a pair of well-developed maxillary barbels, scales on the breast and belly embedded beneath the skin and a postlabial groove extended lateromedially to divide the lower lip into two lateral lobes and one central part (Ref. 57743).
